I can't understand why anyone would buy a single vent portable a/c unit. This unit completely separates inside and outside air. It's single drawback is that it does not have a feature to mix a small amount of intake air with room air in order to change the air in a room to keep it from becoming stale. Setup is easy. The exhaust vent hose and fittings is slightly larger than the intake hose. 4 screws attach each of two fittings to the window barrier. Two similar fittings snap on to the a/c. Hoses twist into the fittings on each end before attaching to the window barrier and the a/c unit. A clear vinyl hose connects from the a/c drain to either a) your choice of water collector or b) a mister (sprayer) that can be mounted inside the exhaust fitting. Water is pumped through this hose at intervals to discard it. A small wireless remote control snaps into an out of the top of the A/C. This allows setting time, thermostat, three fan speeds, manual and auto modes including dehumidification. The unit is slightly louder than a motel a/c and is comparable to standard window a/c units. If power is lost, time and settings are retained but the start button has to be pressed to restart. I'm happy with mine so far.

  • Great device, great price!

The dual hose system is the way to go! Much more efficient than single hose. I can't believe I got such a deal on my Avallon. I hope it lasts a long time!

  • Running in my garage.

Bought to work on the cars in my garage. Must consider that it is a 1000 W energy expense. In this 500 sqft garage, it does not cool perfectly, but it is completely acceptable. I can feel my feet cold, but the higher the warmer. I have not tried a fan to move the cold air up. Do not use a single hose unit in your garage because the hot air will be pulled from the outside and completely kill the cooling effect. This is a dual hose that does not drop the pressure inside the garage. Only concern is the energy bill.
