The guillotine is great value for money but I found th...at cutting was a bit hit a miss on it as the card slipped on it. Being made off metal it had no grip for the card I was cutting and the plastic guide did very little. It came with no instructions, which I felt may have been useful. I make cards and wanted one for cutting out the small prints I had made, 4 x 4" prints form an A4 overall size. I could not do it and ended up cutting by hand as before I bought the guillotine.

Arrived Quickly when opened it was clear a handle wa...s missing leaving a sharp metal blade end, nor was there a Paper Adjuster... The gap between the blade and the cutting edge is so wide it is not possible to cut anything least paper. The top bar has a 'bung' at one end but not the other leaving a rough edge Terribly constructed, assemble and presented

It is great when a product satisfies one's needs... exactly, In the process of producing CDs from vintage recordings I compile, print, and therefore trim, booklets and associated literature. For some years I have used an old, wooden-based guillotine with the angled (and non-sharp) blade that forces its way through paper rather than cuts. There was no means of clamping down the material -- and though quick to use the results were variable, especially with booklets or catalogues of several pages when the paper would be dragged rather than cut, with ragged edges resulting and the work having to be scrapped occasionally. As soon as the box containing this Professional Heavy Duty A4 Guillotine arrived it was evident that here is no lightweight. Of mainly substantual metal construction, it needs a footprint of at least 15 by 22 inches (38.1 x 55.88 centimetres). Everything is pre-assembled, but what is termed the "Pressing handle" (which raises and lowers the paper clamp) needs to be turned around so that it faces the operator. This is achieved by undoing and re-assembling it with the allen key which is housed in the Tool Box (with its pull-up lid) along with other spares and a "blade splint" which is needed should the razor-sharp blade ever need replacing. There are guards and safety features to prevent any accidents: for instance, the operating handle has to be unlocked via a push-button with the left hand while operating it with the right. The machine's base is printed with a computer-accurate grid and rulers in imperial and metric measurements, so that in conjunction with what is termed the "moveable file" (i.e., paper stop) exact cutting can be achieved. The "Instruction" leaflet provided doesn't exactly instruct, containing just captioned illustrations of the main parts and a short description in that oft-encountered badly translated English; but everything is easy to assimilate. Apart from the re-assembly of the "Pressing handle", as previously noted, the only other necessity is to push on the operating handle's extension, whence everything is set up to go. I was a bit puzzled at first about the four rounded plastic "corners" enclosed, but these are extensions to the feet should the complementary table be used. The table is illustrated on the front of the leaflet, but there is no further information. It may not be available in Great Britain or other areas. So how does it perform? Superbly is the answer. I was a bit sceptical at first that a hand-operated guillotine could cut through the claimed 400 sheets of (80gsm) paper, but having tested it on various stack thicknesses (including an old telephone directory) the claim is evidently fully justified. Little effort is needed to pull down the handle, the downward movement of which stops when the paper is cut. So there is no need to attempt to force it right down when one remembers that the whole length of the blade makes contact with the paper at once rather than gradual contact as with the old-style guillotines. In conclusion: if you need a reliable, superbly-made, heavy-duty paper guillotine that really works, look no further than this.

When reading previous reviews in different places about ...this product I decided to order it cautiously, trying to gauge my expectations reasonably. When the product arrived I was pleasantly relieved to see that it had done so unscathed. The construction was sturdy enough. It took me several minutes to work out that you are supposed to move the handle outwards, away from its 'parked' position against the board before you can lift it to use it. Taking it to work to put it to its intended use, I found that it cuts reasonably enough through several layers of card (ten or more). The 'marker arm' that helps line up what you are cutting locks into position quite well. Sadly, it doesn't lock firmly enough against its runner rail to prevent it from flexing during cutting, which can lead to an angled cut that is not desired. That having been said, if you place the fingers of one hand in the right place things tend to work as designed. In summary, this is nice, sturdily made product that is not intended to be of the highest professional quality, but you certainly cannot argue with the value for money it provides!

Pleased with its ability. I've been using a ...sliding/roller cutter for single sheets but this takes 6 sheets no problem. A minor safety release has been built in but this could take a finger off easily so use it safely and keep it well out of reach of children.
