I have to start by saying that I was not expecting this item to be great considering the price point, however it looked good enough to help in replacing some surface mount chips and assemble some small boards. I had looked at some other stations and wanted something small enough to easily work with and again this appeared to fit my requirements. The unit arrived very quickly and so I had to give it a try. I found some old boards that worked but was prepared to bin after removing and replacing some devices. Armed with some Google info I set about using this rework station. My first impressions were good as to how the unit was made, the control unit is metal and has a solid feel and the gun tool was well balanced and a really good size for ones hand. I thought just to be sure to check the hot air temp and selected 175 C as the temp. According to my external measurement device the temperature was 173 C at 50% air flow setting which I thought was really good. The device is really quite in use and heats up and cools with reasonable speed. Overall I am highly impressed with my purchase and would recommend to anyone needing this facility at a low cost to give it a go.Read full review

Having used soldering irons most of my 70+ years (many in a professional context) I thought I'd have to try one of these new devices and I was pleasantly surprised. As well as soldering components it has so many other uses. As the temperature can be set from 100° to 450° at the bottom setting it could be used for drying paint, at 250° for heat shrink sleaving, and many other uses that require concentrated heat. The build quality is excellent; a metal chassis; I was expecting plastic for that price, and the whole thing works well. The only thing I can see that would wear out is the element and these are available from China for just a few pounds. All in all, a very useful and versatile tool.

When you buy a tool like this at that price, you don't expect the best quality. I've heard a few horror stories about 858D clones (there are a few videos on YouTube) but I am happy to say there were no such problems with the unit I received. It came with a proper UK mains plug, I was expecting a hastily-converted Far Eastern unit. The metal barrel of the heat gun itself was connected to earth (unlike some cheaper examples) but I still opened it up to check for any dodgy wiring. All very neat and tidy inside, everything connected to where it should be. Also, it appears to work perfectly. I didn't imagine I would find a better quality 858D clone for anything like this price.

I had to replace the bios chip in my laptop, therefore removing the old one and fitting a new one after I had reprogrammed it. This equipment is a must have for circuit board work, soldering either single or multiple terminals. It can be used for so much more as it has adjustable heat and fan settings. I cannot praise this equipment enough, as it made a difficult task very easy. Absolutely Great

Decent heat gun, grippy plastic, shuts off when seated on the holding arm. The fan speed doesn’t go too high but I don’t think a high fan speed is needed with PCB components. When changing the temperature it flashes the current temp as expected but it also flashes random numbers which is quite distracting. Other than that it works very well.

It does the job that is required! I needed some desoldering to be done on a circuit board, and a hot air station was required. There are more expensive versions out there, but for this job...this is good enough, thank you very much! Easy to handle. Only problem though is the grammar of the instructions booklet is not good - a direct translation job from Chinese or something - not understandable really. But common sense will carry you through!

Had this now for 3 weeks, originally purchased for screen removal (which it is very good at), but soon found myself testing it on chip removal on iPads/iPhones :), very pleased with it's performance, took a couple of attempts to dial in the correct airflow and temperature but that was me not the device! Very pleased with the 858D 220V SMD rework station, very good value for money, glad I purchased it

Have only used it a couple of times but very impressed. Seems to be good quality and well made. Removed small surface mount EEPROM with no problem

The cheapest I’ve found, was definitely not disappointed. The holder and nozzles that come with it are not of the highest quality but work fine. I’ve have used this product to successfully solder circuit boards.
