I own well over a 100 rods and can say that the build quality of this rod is excellent ( and better than expected). My only minor complaint in build quality is the lack of alignment dots for assembly. ( I'll add my own). Function wise, It's very light in the hand and dampens quickly. It is however a very "fast" and stiff rod with considerable backbone. . More of a Light action really. It's rated for 2-8# line but in my experience there is not enough give in this rod not to be breaking 2# line regularly. 4-6# seems right for it. I also think that the 1/32 oz lower rating is optomistic if you actually want to cast it more than 10 feet. The rod has trouble loading with 1/16 oz and seems to find it's sweet spot with 1/8 to 1/4 oz. It's a joy to cast and fish when set up within these parramiters. ( I bought the 6' version so it could double on small streams and larger open waters. ) One last gripe. The peapod shapped case is ill thought out and hard to use. It's way to bulky for backpacking and has no tie in points. There is enough (wasted) space in the case for 3 more rods but not a reel. The velcro tie downs in the case are frustrating to use. I'll be replacing the case first thing.Read full review

The rod is an Ultralight, do it doesn't have a lot of beef to it, but that is fine for a travel rod as it can accommodate to species large and small. The great part is the length of the case: 23-ish inches which is able to be put in a normal hiking pack. A lot of other travel rods are a lot longer in the case which is something to consider if flying. Good rod, perfect for what I needed it for.

When it comes to fishing I have two loves. Big catfish on trot lines and rod and reel and everything else on ultralight gear. With this rod I'm tempted to combine the two since the rod itself has enough backbone to do some serious work. Most so called ultralight rods on the market are short noodle rods and lack the backbone for serious work, not this one. So far I've only used it on stocked trout and it tossed unweighted corn well. I look forward to taking it out after shoal bass in current.

Nice rod when I'm on the move. I like using this paired with a daiwa revros 1000. Its a good ultralight trout set up.

Ultralight action yet has plenty of backbone for large fish. The rod has quality parts and, at four piece, it is a great rod to pack for a road trip.

Well made rod, good action, comfortable grip. Matches my Diawa Exceler 1000 reel perfectly. Like that it can handle up to 3/8 oz lures, very versatile.
