Good for marine use
I previously had this same unit, but it recently failed to turn on. I was familiar with this unit so a logical choice for replacing. I use this unit for marine use and it operates like new. It is a older unit by very well built. I left the "reliable" box blank because I do not know how long it will perform. That said, the same unit, it is replacing, lasted for close to 10 years. Garmin 45 GPS
This is our second Garmin 45 GPS, plus we have a (non45) Garmin GPS in our car. We have had excellent performance from our first 45 which we installed on our boat in 1994. It still works well too; the only problem is that the screen has fogged and is unreadable.
