The unpacking was easy, Delighted to see a toner cartridge already in the machine. Setting up for a non-techie like me was different. I saw the Geek Squad for setting up my iPhone and Lenovo tablet and I called HP support to get the wireless set up. It worked fine until I moved it closer to the modem which was recommended and I did, and now I guess I need to reboot or something because wireless is not working. I will get to that. I am not sure how this machine will work if I took it with me, as the machine seems to turn off on its own. It prints really well.

The printer was purchased to replace a network printer; however, the wireless button DOES NOT WORK so this printer cannot connect to the network. The printer is USELESS!!!

There are two parts to this review and they are the reason this fabulous little printer barely missed a five star overall rating and is only average in features... So read on and decide for yourself. For my review purposes I'm comparing it to the HP laser printers we have at work, which are designed for heavy duty use and cost thousands. This is where you have to keep some perspective on why you are buying this versus a business machine and where some of the reviews I read when researching the P1102, were just plain wrong. Also, the trend of the all-in-one machine is nice for some users, but they tend to only do things marginally well, while this one-job laser printer does it very well. Printing quality is 99% as good to the naked eye, as our work printers. The speed is not quite as fast as the pro machine, but for home or home office use it's plenty quick. And it is definitely quiter than our office machines, which is a big plus at home. Some of the reviews I read when researching complained it doesn't do 11x17 paper and no duplexing (printing both sides in one go). All I can say is if you need those options, then you need to spend the money on a pro machine. Which brings me back to doing one job well, build quality, and lasting over time. This machine feels sturdy, looks good, and if it's like it's big brothers at the office will last for 10+ years. My only complaint is that setting up the wireless printing is like learning theocratical math, it's not for everyone. It's plug and play fantastic, but getting it work wirelessly with my iPad as advertised was not easy and that's where it is only average in features. In short, you can't beat the price and almost pro quality for home use.Read full review
I decided to buy this printer because of the size and the wireless feature. This laser printer responds almost instantly, no need to warmup, and prints very quickly. I love the size and efficiency of this small printer. Setup was easy, printer comes with installation disc but software is already built-in. The only problem I had is, printer sometimes loses connectivity, it might be a problem with my network; most of the time I just push the power button and solves the problem; in the worst case, I had to uninstall and reinstall the printer, but is unlikely. Pros: Size, printing speed, wireless. Cons: Loses connectivity. Would I recommend it: Yes.
Tired of running out of ink every month and paying enough for a cartridge to buy an entire printer? Tired of slow, clunky performance accompanied by software and hardware errors? Are the vast majority or the entirety of your print jobs monochromatic? Time to switch to a business-class laser-jet like the HP-P1102W. Vastly superior to inkjet printers in terms of reliability, ease of use, and, most of all, economy. A typical small eBay business can print for a year or more on one cartridge. Fast, cheap and rugged. Highly recommended.

Needed a small laser for use in our camper while travelling. This one is amazingly light and compact and produces beautiful printouts in a hurry. Only problem I had was setting it up talk to my PCs. Especially on Linux, it is complicated and difficult to figure out what you have to do to get the right driver and to get it set up. HP could do a much better job providing info on this task...info on their support site was of no help. Thank goodness for bloggers who provided details on getting through the process. And it was worth it...I love my P1102!

I have owned several of the HP 1102w printers because I need a wireless laser printer to work in a specific small space, and this does the trick spacewise. Print quality and speed is excellent, off-brand toner is reasonably priced, but sooner or later- 1 to 2 years in my experience- the printer will be lose its ability to connect to the network anymore. It may still work with the USB cable, but since I need the wireless capability its useless for my purposes. I've heard criticisms of the HP software used in these printers, and it appears to be true. I have accepted that these printers are a disposable item and will just buy a new one when then current one fails, until I can find another brand that works in the tight space this one does.

My wife and I needed a small black/white/grayscale printer for some high-quality labels we wanted to print. Our color inkjet was ok but it was expensive on black ink and the quality just wasn't there. We also had the added headache of trying to share the printer/scanner using USB between two machines. We bought one of these and now can't imagine being without it. Setup was a breeze (even with our hardened wireless setup, quick/easy initial config via USB to set wireless network connection), PC config was also super easy (drivers seem to be served directly from the printer), it's wireless so no sharing-between-PCs headache, the online monitoring/management tools are great, print quality is awesome (even with generic toner), it's quiet, it's green (switches itself off after a couple of minutes of idle), it's quick (from sleep to printed page in 5 seconds) and it's at a price you can't ignore. If you're in the market for a small b/w laser printer, you're a fool to overlook this little unit. We couldn't be happier with it. Bravo HP.Read full review
If your a college student (Like me) and your looking for a printer that can get the job done but wont dry out of ink in a week... You have found it!! This Printer is PERFECT for everything I need it for, Plus I dont have one wire hooked up to it. All you have to do is configure it ONCE with a usb and then it is an Wireless Printer. You can use it with tablets, phones, and of course laptops. Goes into a sleep mode after inactivity which basically only uses power to turn on the standby LED light and the WIFI signal, everything else is turned off. Great Printer for the bargain!
I bought this HP Laserjet to replace an HP 1320 that was no longer functional. The 1320 has been in service for around 8 years. Needless to say, I love HP products. The selling points for me are that it is a Laserjet and it's ink supply is a toner cartridge that lasts forever. Just when you thinks it's dead, shake it and it has a lot more life. The second strength is it's price. For $90 you get a printer that is reliable and will give you years of service. Obviously, the drawback is that it is monochrome (black only). For that I have an HP all-in-one.As that is an ink cartridge printer, I only use that one to scan and print color documents.
