For 99 quid it's the buisness it will get you there quicker than a navman
Clear display all manner of information besides your direction of travel. It even suggests alternate routes for congested roads at peak times of day.
The display -direction of travel, distance to go,estimated arrival time, distance to next roundabout /junction,speed of travel, speed restriction 30,50,60,70mph
Audio- there are a number of voices to choose from and a number of Euro languages to give audio directions.
Quick auto route tried to confuse the sat-nav by deliberately taking wrong turns but in seconds it had given a new route to the destination even in a one way system of traffic.
Ease of use -touch screen input through qwerty keyboard postcodes street names cities towns addresses.
Gripes -Euro zone mapping is an absurd system the XL comes with a recent up to date Euro zone map but to update you have to delete all of the map and install only a section of the map whether its North South East or Western zone so if you needed to map from the UK to Turkey somewhere along the route you would need to access your pc to change the map zone.Ok if your pc is a tablet or laptop not so ok if your pc is a tower unit back in the UK.
Value for Money-Yes it definitely is that as the mapping is good value for all of Western Europe and UK/ROI with all the information displayed onscreen.
Improvements I would suggest more than 2gb of memory as it's not too expensive for a little expansionRead full review
I bought this product for my motorbike. Dedicated navi systems for motorbikes are more expensive than this product. I like big screen and easy of use. One bad point memory card too small for keeping all Europe maps (no slot for another memory card or expand existing memory card).
Low resolution screen & underpowered but cheap and reliable.
The unit was inexpensive compared to the updates required for it. Map updates need to be purchased from Tomtom quarterly at high prices.
The screen itself is of inferior quality if compared to something like an iphone 3gs and nowhere close to a iphone 4/4s. The unit also feels a bit under powered and slightly slow at times.
That said it does get you from point a to b without much trouble and there is always the option of installing free maps if you know where to look.
Well made item with good sound quality. Loads up quickly with route and has saved me countless hours with great shortcuts especially navigating my way out of London. All those hassles and stress of trying to map read gone. Easy to use and the lanes feature on motorways takes further stress out of a journey. Becomes youre best friend in a short space of time. Maybe I need to get out more.... Fantastic gadget just buy one.
I purchased this product to replace the similar model that failed on me, I had it for a number of years without any trouble, easy to use (ie very user friendly)when it failed I thought rather than pay for a repair etc i would put the money to a newer unit.
I bought the same model but a much newer version and i am very satisfied with it,it has everything that i need.
