It contains the dates, weights and detailed catch history of every recorded Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) over 50lb landed in Europe and North America, whether on the fly, by rod or other means. Each of the case histories is entertainingly told, with plenty of background information, and most feature original photographs of the catches, their locations and the fishermen. All the cases have been carefully examined, and details double-checked for accuracy. Also included are sections on: tales of lost fish, Salmon fishing in Norway, big salmon caught in Finland and Sweden, the decline of the River Rhine, total of salmon caught weighing over 60 lb since 1700, the top twelve giant salmon caught on fly since the end of World War-II and Captain Tinkler's 51lb Tweed salmon.
