The guide was intended to lessen the culture shock for those embarking on their first trip to Great Britain, and for the most part, abroad. The instructions are a wonderful interpretation of the differences between the two allies. By turns hilarious and poignant, many observations remain quaintly relevant today.Every page is full of enchantingly nostalgic advice and observations.

It is a timely reminder
The advice given within this book must have given the US servicemen quite a surprise. The characteristic Englishman was reserved but loyal and fierce when roused. It is quite surprising to see how the American influence has modified our way of life and our expectations.
