This book really does cover the fundamentals of turbocharging, whether it's a vehicle which is turbocharged from the factory or a vehicle you are wanting to turbocharge. I bought this book because I wanted to learn more about how to turbocharge a vehicle, since I am working on a project car. You hear many horror stories of turbocharging gone wrong, and I think it's safe to say this book covers all the aspects you need to know to avoid molten pistons and conrods in your face (perhaps not that drastic). I think if you don't know anything about an engine or how it works, you may want to read this book slowly; There's a lot of information which at first is quite scary and difficult to consume. But learn a bit about engines and take your time, and before you know it you'll be learning some really fascinating stuff and begin to understand why a poorly installed turbo will have poor results. I have two turbocharging books, this one, and another called "Turbo, Real world high-performance turbocharger systems" by JK Miller. I find that maximum boost is far more enjoyable and easier to understand, and JK Miller's is a little bit misleading here and there, and overall a bit hard to digest. The best advice I think I'd give to anyone thinking of turbocharging a car is to buy this book, AND to buy the one by JK Miller. Both have endless valuable information, and for the £30 it may cost and a few days worth of reading it will ensure your turbocharged system will run sweet as a nut, and save you a fortune in the long run.Read full review
