  • Heavily abridged and badly edited, but nevertheless interesting

Has the bulk of Luther's arguments cut out. Despite assurances from the (rather smug) editor that his theological arguments are numerous and compelling, they are mainly cut out in favour of "juicy" snippets. Seems to presume the audience of the book will be too illiterate to follow Luther's theological logic (obvious through the use of huge typesetting). It's unfortunate as this is not "Mein Kampf" or "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" as the editor might wish it to be, but a theological text relying on detailed theological arguments to produce its thesis. Typos are numerous and source of the translation is unclear and therefore questionable (despite pigheaded assurances of the translation's quality, it isn't attributed to anyone). The illustrations at the end of the book are a nice addition, however they are uncaptioned and uncredited so of limited use to supplement the text. Overall not a bad overview of some of Luther's arguments, but seems to be aimed at halfwit illiterate American anti-semites rather than any serious Christian or historical reader.
