Usual Airfix standard of kit.
Basically it's your standard Airfix kit and all that means. I'm quite impressed with the model over all except for one detail, (well four details but they are the same detail repeated four times). It's the Shrouds and rat lines, (the rope ladders to the crows nests) for some reason at Airfix someone decided it would be a good idea to model them and included them in the kit. The model scale is 1/1000; it's impossible to model anything that thin in that scale. So what they give you are far to bulky, and I mean far to bulky. About 1mm x 2-3mm and as long as required. Something 1mm thick in 1/1000 scale would be 1metre thick on the real thing. The shoud lines are no where near 1metre thick. I looked to making the shouds and rat lines and I couldn't find anything thin enough. The thinest fishing line, I could find, was even to thick. So I looked to old photographs of the Titanic at sea, just to see how prominent the shouds and rat lines were, and in most of the photos you can hardly see them, they are that thin they are almost invisible in the photos and most of the images in the photos are much bigger than the model. So problem solved, leave the shouds and rat lines off altogether as at that scale you wouldn't be able to see them anyway. But on the models I've seen where people have put them on because they're in the kit, they just look stupid and spoil an otherwise acceptable model A few other small details are out of scale but not immediately so obvious as to spoil the overall look..Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
