Dr. T. G. Mattison grew up in Dayton, Ohio and was one of eight children born from her mother and one of ten children born from her father. A Child's Love is based on much of her own childhood and the many obstacles she overcame to become the woman she is today. Her message to children and young adults today, who are facing difficult situations in their life, is to believe in God first, believe in yourself second, and to persevere and persist in any situation. Besides being determined, persistent, and her belief in God, the author accredits her strength from her grandmother, who always had a special place in her heart and always seemed to be there when there were no one else was. The author also gives thanks and love to her mother for always inspiring her to do anything she believed in and that truly a woman can take care of herself if needed. The author will never forget her step-mother who gave her love and attention when it was most needed and for being the mother she always needed. Finally the author gives thanks and praises her father who was there in time of need and for all the laughter he brought into her life.
