Enjoyable read with a historical setting
This is a good honest murder mystery although if you like all the gory details then it might not tickle your fancy. Although you can read it in isolation there is also a good background story line if you have read any other Kate Shackleton mysteries. I enjoyed this because it is not totally predictable and has a bit more substance than some murder mysteries and the historical setting in the North is interesting - always something to learn.

A LOVELY READ
I found the Kate Shackleton mysteries by Frances Brody by accident when looking for something else. I have now found the whole series compelling reads. Kate is a great heroine and I would recommend reading from the beginning of the series that way to get to see how Kate herself grows from her life experiences. The backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales and surrounds are stunning and really brought to life. On top of all this you are taken back to an amazing era of the 1920s but with a modern feel to them. This is because the 1920s were so innovative and the start, for me, of modernisation, especially for women. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
