A Perfect Circle
The kids were playing Guitar Hero and heard the distictive voice of Maynard James Keenan and wondered what song of Tool's was playing then realised it wasn't Tool is was A Perfect Circle the song 'Outsider' I thought it was brilliant. I bought the CD as I like Tool and had never heard A Perfect Circle before. I am so glad I bought this CD and will be buying more of A Perfect Circle would recommend this to anyone who likes Tool!
A very nice side project
You only have to listen to songs like "The Hollow", "Orestes", "3 Libras", "Thinking of You" or "Magdalena"; you will be charmed with them. Is a very nice different alternative rock with a great genuine sound.
A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms
sensational album from maynard of tool and others the girl on base has the best pins ive seen and she can lace that base ....this is an awesome album... one for every collection
A beautiful masterpiece.
If I'm being honest, I bought this album for just one reason. I had fallen in love with the single '3 Libras' from the very first play, and began my search for Mer de Noms shortly after the discovery. Needless to say, I was very excited to listen to it when I finally acquired it. Usually, such hype would be detrimental to my verdict, however on this occasion I was not disappointed. I found that, as an album, it had a consistently high standard of beautiful melodies and haunting lyrics and it just flowed seamlessly. 'Judith', 'The Hollow', '3 Libras' and 'Brena' are my stand-out tracks; the latter two being well in the running for single most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Mer de Noms will be stuck in my CD player for a long time, as it is a perfect relaxation album, a great driving album, and it great for just listening. Above all, it is most effective to listen to this album when you're feeling particularly down; Keenan's vocals are poignant and heartfelt, making it great for listening to if you need a good 'emotional'! Verdict: 10/10, as long as I stop the album from playing that final little track, 'Over'! It is a very small negative in a field of positives. This is a must have.Read full review
A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms (CD 2000)
A Perfect Circle formed from Tool with front man Maynard James Keenan's voice the obvious clue however, I never quite fully enjoyed Tool. I liked Maynard James Keenan and thought he had an unusual yet bewitching voice, but I never fully understood what Tool were about. Their sound just didn't quite click. But I when I heard Mer De Noms, I suddenly realised that A Perfect Circle was for me. In fact, I really enjoy A Perfect Circle so much that I can now regard them as one of my all time favorites. Their music is quite removed from Tool and other Hard Rock bands. A Perfect Circle's music is very dark and atmoshpheric. Maynard further shows us what an incredible voice he has as he sings the haunting lyrics. The first single "Judith", and probably the best on the album, is simply awe inspiring. Billy Howerdel is a great guitarist and composer, Josh Freese is a very good drummer, and Paz Lenchantin and Troy Van Leeuwen are also talented musicians.Read full review
