This is a delight to use The back light is excellent, with different brightness settings and an off setting too, by holding the dimmer button for 1 second. Press that button again, and it lights up once more. Each press scrolls through the different brightness’s. Build quality is high, and the instructions are sufficient to get you started with setting the date, time, alarm clock, and understanding what you are seeing on the Monitor and remote sensor. These include a trouble shooting guide to help sort out any issues. The remote sensor for outdoors claims to be resistant to weather but no ‘O’ ring seal for the battery compartment leaves me wondering how weather resistant? So we placed ours in a sheltered area. There are a number of programmable alarm settings involving the weather readings including humidity, which will give an audible alarm e.g. if the temperature in your greenhouse gets too high or too low you could have it sound off an alarm! Same for humidity which can be very useful to have! We had a very careful read about what all the symbols are, and what they mean! There is one for signal strength like on your mobile phone, and another for battery power level in the sensor too. Okay: for those who are having a few issues, because we were having issues too, but this is what we discovered. (We already have an Oregon Scientific and they can act up too). Assuming you have already set up the Monitor with date, time etc, but the remote sensor is not giving temperature or humidity from outside or the temp reading on the monitor appears stuck ? Check 1st that the Monitor IS plugged into the mains, and the backup batteries are in too !! Those batteries power the memory chip for your settings. Check both are on Channel “A” 1st. Now on the remote sensor, remove the batteries and check that: 1st) The battery springs are not pointing down or outward but are level. 2nd) Move the channel switch, just for fun – slid it to another channel and then back to “A”. Please make sure you do the above. 3rd) Find where the RESET button is - because we are going to be using it soon 4th) Whilst keeping an eye on the ‘Red light’ on the front of the sensor, place one battery in and whilst looking at the Red light, slid the second battery in – DID YOU SEE a Red Single Flash? The single flash means the unit has power – now press that reset button whilst watching the Red Light – it should flash again. If it did you should now be synchronised with the monitor. If no light flashed at any point then the batteries may be dead ?? or the unit is dead. Check to see if the Monitor is showing anything. Hope that solved it – if not:- Remove the back cover for the backup batteries and look for the RESET button. When WE pressed this, WE found that our settings were still in the unit – date, time, etc but not any calibration settings for the temperature. The reset should have cleaned out any memory it had on its Ai learning algorithm too – not so cleaver, are they ? The Monitor has a symbol for this too. It’s the Human head outline with two multipoint stars inside. You may now have to press the reset button on the remote sensor one more time to sync up again, but if it appears to be working don’t do anything lol !! leave it alone to learn from scratch. Temperature reading not accurate ?? The unit has a calibration setting for these too. This allows you to set the temperature manually against another source such as a food temperature probe or against another weather station you may have, by pressing the keys as described in the instruction booklet and increasing/decreasing the temperature along with other readings to the desired level. If you are using a food probe or laser probe, please note these are not accurate either – the test is to take a reading from boiling water to see how far out the probe is and then to deduct or add the shortfall in the readings. If all else fails you just need to contact the seller for a replacement or possible refund which would be a shame as this unit, now that WE have got OURS to work, is simply excellent. Great instrument, well worth the initial hassle!!Read full review

I've always wanted one of these so after seeing the positive reviews elsewhere I decided to buy one. I'm not disappointed. It has been very accurate so far so no complaints. Gets lots of comments when people call to the house. Great gadget!!

I've had a couple of cheaper ones in the past but this is well worth the little extra. Very nice quality, accurate. The large adjustable backlit display means you can see the information clearly all the time. Pleased!

Arrived quickly and was simple to set up. We found that channel c was the best setting and it has been working flawlessly ever since. My daughter has since decided that she must have one for herself.

Not only does it forecast the weather etc., it also lights up my kitchen in the night. This is good for walking around in the dark(bathroom) so that I do noy wake anyone up.
