Not being a classical buff but ...liking some of the "tunes" and having once had a Wynton Marsalis Bach tape he'd recorded in a church in London, I was delighted to see this listed for sale. It makes very pleasant listening, with Marsalis' trumpet playing clearly to the fore, as is to be expected. I found myself humming along as it played as there are some familiar tunes in the selection. Not to denigrate it, but it is good background music when doing other things - like writing on the laptop - or eBaying - as well as worth devoting a concentrated period to listening to it without distractions. As I listented to it in the dark, I recalled seeing Wynton playing a jazz prom in the Albert Hall a few years ago. What talent, what an unusual trumpet and so confident in switching proficiently between styles. And what a family! I've got other recordings by the English Chamber Orchestra and it's the clarity & simplicity of tone compared with the all-embracing nature of a symphony orchestra that appeals to me at times. As I said, I'm not a classical buff but this is an interesting addition to any music collection.
