I decided to go for a 2013, 2.4 GHZ i7 with 8G...B ram as these were available for amazing prices. The performance is amazing, in a logic stress test I am able to run 99 instruments, each with 4 effects. This is the same, and even more than some 2016 and 2017 15" MBP's! The retina display is amazing quality, offering 2880-by-1800 resolution. The Os runs by default in 1400x9*2- meaning you get the full quality of 2880x1800, with things looking a bit bigger so they are easier to read. This is not default on 2016 and newer MBP's, and they are slightly blurrier. The geekbench benchmark scores are around 12,200, depending on the model from 2013 it will be from 11 to 13 or so thousand. A new 15" MBP offers around 14 thousand, so it is only a small hit in performance, and will run everything a new MBP can run flawlessly. You can get these models for around £600 in good condition, vs £1,900 for a new base 15", or £1249 for a base 13", which is SLOWER than these models, with only a dual core i5 processor, vs a quad core i7 with hyperthreading. You won't regret buying one of these, just look for one that has been well looked after and you will be very happy indeed, with a huge saving in your pocket.
