I bought this book because I am interested in combining felt made pictures with stitching. Not many other felting books do this, so thought it would be interesting. I'd also borrowed this book from my library and thought it would be lovely to have my own copy. It is a beautiful, colourful book with many lovely pictures showing the felt work in great detail. The text is very easy to read with a lot of good information for starting from scratch with the felting. I have other felting books which do go into greater practical detail, but it is lovely to also have this book as it is so artistic and inspiring.
This book is one of the best for inspirational felting, taking you through all the different wools that can be purchased and the equipment needed to get started.(which isn't expensive) Very good step by step instructions to make some of the projects in the book. Very well taken photographs in lovely colours which will just make you itch to get started on your own picture. I didn't dislike anything in this book.
If you have a little experience of felting and want to be inspired- this is the book for you! Moy Mackay's work is beautiful and the colours just sing. She shows you how to recreate some of her artwork which is fairly easy to follow. The illustrations show the detail on her work. I would have liked to have even more detail in terms of the types of fibre to produce particular effects but you can't expect such an artist to give away all her secrets! If you like felt pictures, rich colours and want to learn a little more- buy this book!
