They are what it says - couplings complete with pockets and they are exactly the same as fitted to Bachmann stock. They seem expensive for what is a few bits of moulded plastic, but all model railway parts are expensive, so par for the course, and if you search around you can get then a little cheaper from some sellers than others.

It is a direct replacement for coupling on an open wagon I bought with a broken one. First time I used the wagon it kept uncoupling from the loco which has a standard long coupling. So it took a bit of perseverance to make it stay connected.

All NEM style couplings are on the dear side for what they are regardless of manufacturer. For something that is supposed to be a standard, a definitive height it is not, hence the use of cranked or straight couplings, short or long. Bachmann appear to be more refined than others available which can cause minor problems on a few occasions.
