Bomber Command covered the main points, and equipment well, it illustrated most of the aircraft that were used without going o.t.t. on the Lancaster, the images of the aircraft were interesting, showing the development in size and sophistication, with the risk that the enemy would introduce counter measures. Commanders were shown, explaining who they were and who issued the order for 'area bombing' poor old 'Bert' Harris usually gets the blame, but it wasn't him! though he did carry it through, it would have been a little more helpful if the group commanders were shown as to a great extent they did a lot of work in developing the techniques during the battle. On the down side, the programme didn't cover the Butt report, which caused some shockwaves in the command or that the high losses were caused by a combination of poor defensive weapons and the aircrews going out night after night on missions, which is why the force had the highes casualty rate of any uniformed service, one other point that I didn't appreciate was the overly long introduction to the programme, it seemed to go on for far too long. That said it was an informative D.V.D. worth buying for the pictures of the not so famous aircraft.Read full review
