I normally steer well clear of the life stories of superstars but, as I have always been fascinated by Springsteen and his music, I gave this one a go. And I'm so glad I did. It has the ring of truth from page 1 and is consistently compelling, largely thanks to the way he tells his story. He does occasionally get carried away with his literary prowess but that's forgivable given the nature of his career and the overall pleasure I gained from reading about his journey from the confines of a small American town to being one of the world's top rock musicians. Highly recommended to anyone who is remotely interested in the man and his music.
