In the seventies this film was great. Super-hunk Burt Reynolds alongside 'Midnight Cowboy' Jon Voight, who is Angelina Jolie's real father. They are part of a group of city slickers who go on a canoe trip through the swamps and rivers of the American deep south. They soon find that the simple local folk are not as peaceful as they first seemed and the trip becomes one of survival as civilised battles with primitive. In later years the banjo music became a theme tune for people who are simple. Action films and special effects have come a long way since then, but it is still watchable.
Brought as a gift so can only speak on behalf of a third-party. Yes they really enjoyed the film
