enya is always enjoyable, from the music to her singing she always is easy to listen to. this has 2 songs that i enjoy with just her playing the music. her melodys ring thru true.
I am a big fan of Enya and unfortunatly the copy I had had a scratch on. I was very gratefull to track it down.
When this album was first released few could argue its brilliance in adapting celtic music to pop. All tracks fit in well together and there are few to dislike as the style of music is in a similar format throught. However as years have gone by (reaching 20 now)it does sound dated compared to todays standard due to the use of synthetic sounds. I would advise you to buy Amarantine, Shephard moons or Watermark before this one if you are new to Enya.
The Celts is a 1992 re-issue of her 1986 debut album entitled Enya. Nothing is different about this version except that Portrait is extended to 3 minutes. The Celts is more simple and not as synthesized as the highly successful 1988 follow-up Watermark. I found this album to be quite an amazing and underrated gem in Enya's catalogue. This album is not as dynamic or as powerful as the Watermark album which Enya found her breakthrough. But this CD is a five star anyway.
