FAIRPORT CONVENTION HOUSE FULL remastered
This is another in the remastered series of xlassic folk rock albums from island, and well deserves the re release. Vibrant and exciting,it has been hugely improved since its original cd release- from the openimng Sir Patrick Spens[oddly, the encore track of the gig] it demonstrates the sheer musical quality of the thinned out 1970 manifestation of Fairport-no Sandy Denny and no Ashley Hutchings, but with Richard Thompson really shining, and some marvellous work from the legend that is Dave Swarbrick. The Lark in the morning medley is performed at breathtaking speed, and it's real highlight is the quite superb performance of Battle Of [the] Somme. One can just about forgive the Yellow bird it finishes with... For me,easily the best Live Fairport album. Recommended!
This is the fairest Fairport album of them all!!! The version of Matty Groves is the best I've heard and the following track, Jennys Chickens/Masons Apron a is truely mind-blowing instrumental piece that has to be heard to be believed. Its worth the album price in itself... How can humans play that quicky with such perfect timing? Oh, 'tis staggering!
Good old English folk rock played the way it shold be LOUD. Great quality also seeing the age of the original recording. On a scale of 1 to 10 this one goes to 11.
