Great tracker but do miss HR tracking more than I thought I would. The Alta tracks steps, sleep, calories and picks up your texts. It claims to recognise set exercises and pick them up automatically but I spin a lot and without the HR monitor I have to log it manually through MyFitnessPal which only gives a set estimate of calories burned. I know I don’t always work that hard ;) I have opposite problem with my runs which I do outside up hills. Without HR I lose a record of the intensity; I know I’m working harder than the distance/steps show through the Alta and it is especially gutting if you forget to start MapMyRun before you go as you then just get a daily total of your steps/distance. If you use MapMyRun as well you get a separate record of your runs (without HR) which will sync to your Fitbit app. Good but a big drain on your phone battery and a hassle to remember. The Fitbit app is great and links well with Alexa, MyFitnessPal, MapMyRun, Apple Health etc giving you plenty of data. There’s a good community on the app with forums on most topics and lots of good articles. If you’re just looking for your steps, sleep and calories the Alta is excellent. It’s good enough I’m not rushing to get the Alta HR but I will upgrade at some point. If you’re wanting to monitor the intensity of your exercise it would probably be best to go straight to Alta HR. The Alta is comfortable to wear, mine charges quickly and gives me about three days between charges and I have just about everything running on it all the time; texts, syncing, alerts etc... The strap is a bit of a pain and I’ve already gone through one- the metal clip pinged off and has been lost... Overall though a great tracker!Read full review

This really is the biz. Absolutely amazed at my husbands sleep routine. I don't expect the husband to keep up any exercise routine but it has made him think about his own body. The wrist band is rather hard to do up, I have to do it for him, maybe it will get easier with use. He absolutely loves it. Thank you so very much. Candi.

THe FItBit Altar HR is a great addition to the FitBit range of tracker devices. Compact with improved funtionality and capeability. It also benifits from the the ability to change the strap to suit your use or preference.

I would recommend this product as it’s easy to use and keeps you updated on your movement and motivates you , there’s plenty of challenges to do , the only downside is the strap is s little hard to do at first but apart from that it’s great .

I have had the Alta for a week. The sleep side isn't very sensitive, I have had times I have woken but it's not registered it. The walk count is reasonably accurate although it keeps telling me I have burnt hundreds of calories when I have hardly moved! The silent alarm is very useful as are the phone notifications, I tend not to hear my phone if it's buried in my bag so it's very handy to have my wrist vibrate. All in all, I am happy with it.
