This collection consists mainly of jewels from the convents closed at the beginning of the 19th century... and from the collection... bequeathed to the Museum by Americo Barreto and his wife Ema. We can now see how the fashion and use of jewellery evolved in Portugal. The aim of this book is to enable the public to appreciate better an almost unknown branch of Portuguese art.
