Grandaddy - The Broken-down Comforter Collection is ideal for those Grandaddy fans who have exhausted the studio albums. Compiling tracks from 3 previous EP's, the bands song writing consistency shines through with tracks that carry the gritty punch and some which utterly resemble the progressive space-like bliss the band can generate. I personally bought this CD to add to my Grandaddy discography. I have listened to pretty much every track produced by the band and i have made it a little hobby of mine to collect all there exsisting CD's. If your a first time Grandaddy buyer, i wouldnt suggest this compilation album. As great as it is, it may leave you a little short of their best. My recomedation would be Sumday or Diary of todd zilla as they both contain the madness & maturity of the band. However if this isnt your first Grandaddy purchase then dive right in...every song has its own little genious! Grandaddy's music is like an epic journey venturing into the depths of anger, isolation and profound happiness. It's also pretty damn awesome stuff, despite all the emotional sh**! Buy it & enjoy. Any fan of Grandaddy's later work such 'The Fambly Cat' will love this album as it is so easy to see where their sound developed from. Many of the tracks sound very like their later work and, in that sense, from this album to 'Fambly Cat' nicely rounds a body of work by a great band.
A crazy, somewhat self indulgent 'Hog Horse' ride to a 'Red Neck' house party! But Hey! these Good Ol'Boys have got some style! Climb on!
