A collection of paintings and drawings of the world's opera houses, executed by the author over a 12-year period. The facade of each opera house is illustrated, accompanied by text written, in many cases, by the personalities associated with each building, and additional drawings.
The artist, Andras Kaldor, was born in Hungary but now lives in Dartmouth, Devon. He specialises in paintings of buildings. He is the author and illustrator of Opera Houses of Europe and is currently working on a new book on the architecture of Berlin, Berlin Reborn. He has exhibited widely on both sides of the Atlantic.
