I was lucky enough to see Hootie live in London as a late birthday present, my dad bought their third album (musical chairs), as I've been listening to it ever since. It is a great album which can be repeated-and-repeated over and over without any less amazement of their work

There must be thousands of people like me who were blown away with Hootie and the Blowfish's first release (Cracked Rear View) and rushed out to buy they're second album only to be disappointed by the damp squib that was Fairweather Johnson. It put me off buying their third release 'Musical Chairs' until now... 10 years after its release. I was delighted to find they had learned from their mistakes and returned to the winning formula that had been so successful on their grammy winning debut. Musical Chairs would have been a natural follow up, as it carries on where Cracked Rear View left off with 12 solid songs that get the foot tapping from the first bar of track one. Its a good mix of high tempo numbers and ballads and, although not quite the emotional rollercoaster that the first release was, it is well worth buying. Note: The bonus track is hidden away as track 15 (both 13 and 14 are 30 second 'silent' tracks)Read full review
