I have both Hornby e-link/Railmaster and Hornby Select control on my layout. I've bought these before and have used them to make my analogue locos into DCC control. I usually fit an 8 pin socket first and then plug in this decoder. Never had a problem. Must have converted at least 14 locos with this decoder. Then changed some of them for Hornby TTS sound decoder. Very pleased with both.

If I had realised this decoder was made so badly I would not have bought the Hornby DCC control unit. I have had 3 disintegrate and am now on my 4th with wires coming out. I thought it was my fault but had been informed recently many other people have had the same problem. If this problem persists why don't Hornby get this quality sorted? I have 12 locomotives in my collection and at about £16.00 each with postage I have felt cheated. I would not recommend this product but the service from the UK suppliers has been excellent.

First time I have tried to fit a decoder in to a locomotive and it was easy after reading the instructions that came with it and it won't be the last great product.

I bought six of these, five were installed and worked without any problems, all good as used before. Sadly, one is malfunctioning and will be sent back to the supplier. Hopefully, I'll get a replacement without any unpleasantness. I'll post how I get on.
