This processor is quite powerful and working just fine. The only reason to buy it though was to increase the performance of my machine. The performance indeed was increased, but not to the level to make a huge difference. This I presume is due to the fact, that I'm using OS = XP32 with SP3, and hence no multi core support. As most of the use of my machine is for gaming, the CPU alone did not provided the hopped increase in performance. For example the Video card did so - noticeably. Still with the upcoming Win 7, and new games, promising to utilize the multi core support, this will not be an issue I guess. Anyway - I do not regret buying the CPU, and hope to have a lot of fun with it.
I bought this to replace an old LGA 775 Core 2 Duo chip. That PC has been relegated to a backup / disaster recovery PC as I built a new one last year using modern components. The old chip still worked, but was significantly slower than the new PC. There is always a concern when buying used electronic components that the item may have been damaged, but all was fine. It was well packed in an anti-static container with adequate protection form physical damage. Replacing the old processor for this one was straightforward, but could be a bit daunting if you've never done it before - research online to see steps required if you are not sure, and don't forget the thermal paste!
