Many, but not all x58 chipset motherboards do support the Xeons, even if they are not explicitly referred to on the manufacturer website. As a rule of thumb, if the motherboard supports the 6 core i7s, then it is likely, but not guaranteed, that it will support the Xeons. The X5670 is a great choice as it is the fastest rated at 95watts and clocks very easily. It took me 30 seconds to take it to 3.6GHz, on air, without even trying. It will go a lot further, but 3.6 will do me. Gives the x58 motherboard a new lease of life.
