Ideal for home/personal use
Bought this to replace printer in the office. Unfortunately not really the righ one for commercial use. However ideal for home use.
Poor print quality, limited user control, but easy set up,and well made!
As I have recently treated myself to a new Fuji HS30 EXR Superzoom(great camera!),my wife thought a new wireless all-in-one would be a great addition to my kit. Anyway,we saw this printer on a TV shopping channel,at a good price, and it seemed a great step up from my old Epson R300,being quicker, both a scanner and a fax,and also wireless, useful as I have three computers,a desktop, and laptop, and a small netbook. At first,it looked great,a nice touchscreen, easy to set up,and two individual paper trays, and, although quite big,it looked well made. However,no matter what I did,I was unable to get a decent colour A4 print out of the Kodak. The biggest difference from Epson computers is that there's very little the user can do to influence the print quality, apart from selecting "best" picture quality, and the paper type, none of which seemed to have much effect. The printer can detect paper type, etc.,if left to it's own devices,on the default Auto setting, but results seemed "flat",lacking in vibrancy, and, compared to my old Epson, there was simply no comparison. I wasted a fair bit of Kodak's own Premium Glossy A4 paper, and a set of cartridges, trying to get a decent print out of this machine, but I couldn't! Kodak Help desk weren't much use,so I assumed perhaps the printer was faulty, and so I obtained a replacement printer, for another try. This, however, was exactly the same as the previous Hero 9.1,with the same muddy colours, and unacceptable print quality,so,reluctantly,as print quality is paramount to me,I obtained a full refund when I returned the printer to where I bought it,with comparison prints,to illustrate why I was returning it. Initially,I had supposed a big company like Kodak, known for it's long experience in colour printing, could be relied upon to produce a quality printer,to fulfill the requirements of amateur photographers like myself. We desire photo print quality to match their expensive digital cameras,so the output quality of Kodak's latest offering, came as a big disappointment to me. The bottom line is that the Kodak A4 print quality was no match for my old Epson,so it looks like a new Epson all-in-one is my best bet. All-in-all a disapponting offering from Kodak.Read full review
