While many younger Americans may have learned most of what they know about the Korean War from watching reruns of *M*A*S*H, this tactics-oriented war game is designed to offer PC gamers a deeper perspective on the conflict -- and to ensure that it is not "forgotten" after all. Korea: Forgotten Conflict, the second title from Czech developer Plastic Reality, is a squad-based real-time strategy game reminiscent of the Commandos series, in which the player takes charge of a small team of military specialists who must work through challenging, level-specific missions in a gritty, somber atmosphere.
The game features 15 missions in five campaigns, set in such locations as airfields, factories, POW camps, and the streets of Seoul. Some areas are original, created specifically for the game, while others are based on actual places in Korea. Seasonal changes, varying weather effects, and in-engine lighting and shadowing are used to help bring the grim game world to life. The perspective is completely adjustable and the camera is designed to be easy to manipulate. Most of the equipment, weapons, and even tactical maneuvers featured in Korea: Forgotten Conflict are based on real-world equivalents.
