After only briefly using, I can say this tabletop underpinner is the next best item to any budget workshop unit. It.s well made, & of a good design, and the results if used properly are really very good. The awkward bit, I found, was positioning the v-nails before driving them in. It's easier to mark the v-nail positions using pencil marks on the moulding sawn edges rather than use Logan's distance scales, prior to driving in the 1 or 2 v-nails. Follow the instructions!

FLAT AND CONVEX MOULDINGS ARE FINE ON THIS PRODUCT, IT IS TRICKY TO USE AT FIRST BUT YOU GET USED TO IT. HOWEVER CONCAVE SHAPED MOULDINGS ARE DIFFICULT AS THE PLUNGE ARM IS FLAT AND DOES NOT FIT TO THE FACE OF THE MOULDING EVENLY. THE ADAPTOR SUPPLIED DOES NOT ALWAYS COMPENSATE AND THE JOINTS EITHER OPEN UP OR THE VISE "KIDDLES" AND THE V NAILS ONLY GO HALF WAY IN. ALL IN ALL IT DOES A PERFECT JOB WHEN IT DOES WORK SATISFACTORILY. IDEALLY IT SHOULD COME WITH A VARIETY OF ADAPTORS TO COMPENSATE FOR THE DIFFERENT MOULDING SHAPES.

It works well enough, but the construction is not precision engineered, but adequate for the price. The handle and other moving parts have a tolerance of centimetres so it all feels a bit sloppy to use. Fine for the amateur framer who is making the occasional frame, definitely not a professional piece of kit!
