Such a classic film starring such classic actors of the period, it's hard to find new words to praise it. GBS himself was involved in the production, which gives it the cachet of being from the horse's mouth. One reviewer saw the moral as being that it's fine for Christian charities to accept funds from industries which cause misery in the world, but that surely is to miss the fundamental irony of the story. The triumphal ending is evidently bitterly tongue-in-cheek. Remember that Shaw was a socialist idealist; he would not have wanted to convey 'three cheers for the arms trade, for rich distillers and for the capitalist system.'
