Kevork Hopayian has been a GP and a GP trainer in a mixed rural and urban practice in Leiston, Suffolk, for over 25 years. At the beginning of his career, many considered him a pest for constantly questioning the basis for policies and practice, whether in primary or secondary care. He was beginning to believe it himself until the evidence-based movement gave a name and legitimacy to the activity. Since then, he has been teaching EBP on the GP specialist training programme at Ipswich and to undergraduate medical students and multidisciplinary postgraduates at the University of East Anglia. He was a member of the NICE Guidelines Review Panel for four years.
