Used for work and pleasure it is a pleasure to work. The camera features have had a lot of attention from Nokia and it truly is a magnificent camera and even video camera 'tho the lack of large memory chip expansion prevents other than short videos without regular downloads. As a phone it is excellent, sound quality, antenna sensitivity, ability to use with gloves all scream Nokia. It integrates well with my office software especially now there are automatic uploads to the cloud whenever I pass a hotspot. Downsides . . . it's not for kiddies or those older kiddies who bleat about the lack of trivia apps. Everything I need for adult life is here and seamlessly integrated with my tablet, laptop and office network. It is a shame Nokia is unlikely to follow this development path any further.Read full review

This is the second Lumia 1020 in my household. The camera is exceptional (I NEVER wanted a phone with a camera, but this removed my doubts. It does what a phone should, and windows makes it easy to use, but negative for any development since. Also I do not need apps for my life experience, and those I NEED are there.

For me, the 1020 is the best Windows and Nokia phone there ever was. It took the camera out of the legendary Nokia 808 and updated it. It was originally going to be called the Nokia 909, but a few weeks before release became the 1020 and was released in 2013. Even in 2020 the camera is still better than most phones. The team who developed it were taken over by Huawei following Nokia's collapse and the P20pro and the P30pro have been put together by the same people. As a phone it was superb then. It runs best on Windows 8.1 (it never worked well with Windows 10 because of the older processor). If you get it now it has no support from Windows and you can't access any of Windows services from it. There are therefore no apps available for the phone and you can only use what is preloaded in it. Windows 8.1 prevents you from sideloading apps. Google sync still works at Jan 2020 for Gmail, Google contacts and Google calendar syncing. Texting & picture messaging work great. Internet Explorer is the only browser and it works, but with some loading problems on some pages. The music player works great. The phone still connects fine as a mass storage device, by USB cable, to windows 10 allowing photo and video upload to your computer or OneDrive. Despite being six years old the battery in my phone is still going strong, but the batteries will be coming to the end of their usable life and need replacement. For me the phone is now a great and simple dumb phone that does what I want - photography, calls, texts , emails and reading the news. If you want social media and apps this phone will be useless for you. Above all else with Windows 8.1 it's just an utterly beautiful device. It runs utterly smoothly, the dark and black themes make it still look more futuristic than Android and Apple in 2020, and the quality and depth of colours of the AMOLED screen is quite something. Highly recommended for phone collectors and nerds and people who like to play with old tech. Read full review

More than what i expected, with much patience and research it gets easy to configure the settings. Despite the initial hesitation, the quality is awesome all round. Im very glad i got it.

I don't use this as a phone, but keep it handy as a camera - it knocks spots off my Sony Experia z5 - I also intend storing some music so that it is a useful alternative supply in the car.
