You've probably seen the On the Buses series and films on the TV, the TV episodes don't have the outside location as on the films but the comedy is still there. It is an interesting study of life in the 1970s watching these films and the DVDs of the TV episodes, for those not brought up in the late 60's early 70's who maybe unaware of wildcat strikes, industrial action and for many a standard of living much reduced from what we enjoy today, it is wrth looking att he backgrounds and back stories as well as the main features. Despite the episodes being watchable, the social study angle brings another dimension to those with a sociological interest in television representation of 'life' in a similar way that Till Death Us Do part did for the BBC around the same era.
Liked the humour of the DVD, decided to buy it so my children could enjoy it as they had seen some of the On The Buses at a relatives house. Enjoyed this title, especially my 9 year old daughter - laughed alot.
Purchased this DVD for my parents as my dad has always been a fan of on the buses. I borrowed the dvd and was not disappointed; British comedy at it's best, good clean fun that all the family can enjoy. Follow the trials and tribulations of Stan (Reg Varney) and Jack (Bob Grant) as they move from one disaster to another, while always trying to stay one step ahead from the watchful eye of Blakey (I'll get you Butler!!). I would recommend this DVD or any of on the buses series as they are timeless classics which you can enjoy time and again.
Highly amusing series to watch AND work on. I was the senior videotape editor for most of them and enjoyed all of it. Started at LWT in Wembley and it moved through 3 main studios ending at the Thames River!!! Great! Sadly, most of the stars have passed away and there is nothing of its basic humour on UK TV any more. Oh well, must get the discs out!!
