Probably the sharpest, nicest toned, nicest c...olour rendering tele zoom lens I have ever used in 45 years with cameras! It covers the approximate "70-200mm" range popular on full frame 35mm cameras for years, (this 50-135mm covers the same angles because of the Pentax digital sensors being smaller than full frame) Its bright clear f2.8 aperture makes it usable in duller conditions and increases viewing brightness, yet the lens is an acceptably compact size and weight, (BUT its supplied lens hood is quite large for my taste, though obviously very effective!!)
Well built Sharp image No...t very fast to focus Price new is high Used is better deal 7.5 out of 10

Because of what... I paid for this lens I have to say it's fantastic value for money. I know 'the big two' make lenses at least as good but not at this price and for use with K20D, K7 or K5 it really is exceptional. The range of zoom, although slightly unusual is actually very usable making it a flexible tool for a wide range of situations. I've noted some other reviews where the speed of AF has been an issue, perhaps that varies from lens to lens because mine is quick and silent. Ok, it's not light but glass of this quality never will be. Buy this one at the right price and it's money very well spent.
the most smooth focus and the most quite lens ...ever used from pentax! except the weight bit heavy than expected! very good lens
Outstanding lense, sharp right... down to 2.8, a little on the heavy side but on camera balances well on my k5ii, motor is beyond silent, i can only just hear it as i hold camera to my eye. Operation of focus feels solid and well built.
