I have had this tv for a little over 1 month now. It was bought 2nd hand for the bedroom. In the time I have been using it, I have been very impressed with the contrast, when compared to a Sony Bravia LED TV that I had prior to this. And the Panny doesn't suffer from the same amount of motion blur and ghosting that used to annoy me with the Sony. Much much better in fact. The blacks, as expected, are much much deeper on the panny too. Colour and sharpness is also very good, with lots of adjustments possible to get the perfect picture to suit. However, I have noticed some image 'blocking' especially when you have white text on a black background. You seem to get a sort of blocky corona effect. It can be reduced with picture control adjustments, but not eliminated, sadly. I don't know whether this is inherent of plasma displays, or whether it is due to the age of the tv. That said, it has not got to the point of annoying, unlike most LED displays, where this problem is even harder to reduce. All in all though, I am now converted to plasma displays, having previously only owning LED displays after CRT tubes became defunct. I really enjoy the crisp colours, sharpness, and the depth of blacks, which stops the picture from looking washed out. This brings me now to sound quality. The Sony bravia beat the panny hands down in this section. With the Sony, I could quite happily watch the tv without any outside sound equipment, it was that good. I'm not saying it was fantastic at reproducing surround sound effects. No tv can do that without connecting a full surround sound speaker set up. But the sound was rich and full, with a really good depth of bass for a tv, and a sweet treble. The speakers were also front facing, so stereo seperation was also good, as well as the general dynamics of the sound. The Panny, on the other hand, is flat as a fart. Even with the bass and treble at maximum, don't expect to be moved by its lacklustre sonic performance. At best, it sounds like a mediocre boom box, that we used to play tapes on during the 80's and early 90's. There is no real depth, at all. And treble is restrained. It really seems like sound quality on the panny was a low priority, or an after thought. Luckily though, the panny has a good selection of inputs and outputs, as well as an Audio Return Channel capability, so connection to my Onkyo AV receiver solves the problem of poor sound quality. However, not all people will have a full 5.1 setup in their bedroom. So Panasonic, you could do better with tv sound quality. All the above aside though, the panny is blessed with really good build quality, which is evident by its weight. This is not a cheapo all plastic affair. You know you are getting a good 3 or 4 kilos of metal chassis, which keeps the whole thing nice and rigid. And the pivot stand is good quality too. And where you do come into contact with plastic, it is good quality plastics that have been used. The tv does get quite warm, and you know this after you turn the tv off, as you can actually here the plastics contract as it cools. But not to the point of it being an annoyance. Overall, I give the panny 4/5 stars. It would have been 5 stars, but for the poor sound quality. This tv looks smart, with its quality piano black finish, and performs really well as an HD display, with lots of tweaks to get it just how you like it. The pros far outweigh the cons on this tv, and I am more than happy with my purchase.Read full review

It's a nice TV anyway, and the screen is a good size. If you set it up properly, you are still watching TV, not some scientific visual stimulation experiment, and it's pretty much perfect.

Plasma panels, old discontinued technology but still rivals the best OLED displays.
