A really good, informative book crammed with detail & lavishly illustrated.
This is an excellent book crammed with information and backed up with diagrams and relevant photographs. The author, himself a German tank officer albeit of more recent vintage, writes this very authoritative book on German armoured tactics of World War II. He covers all sorts of different operations and manoeuvres and illustrates them with diagrams that seem to have been taken from contemporary Gerrman instruction pamphlets backed up by masses of black & white photographs taken throughout the war. They therefore show early vehicles such as Panzer I's and II's and the mid war stalwarts such as Panzer III's & IV's as well as the end of the war period with King Tigers and Panthers. He also shows how other arms such as Panzer Grenadiers, armoured cars and artillery fitted into the tactics. An excellent book which is very informative and ideal for dipping into. If you like reading military history or wargaming this will help explain why particular tactical actions were carried out as they were.Read full review
