Replaced old Phillips steam iron that has performed brilliantly for more than 10 years - hence return to the brand! Definite improvement over earlier model and great sole plate. Though iron is a little heavier, not inconvenient to use.

This is a first class iron. It is quite heavy and takes a while to get used to but is easy to fill as the water opening is large and hinges on the side. It uses quite a bit of water but the water level on the tank is very clear and its steaming ability is excellent. It removes the hardest creases in no time. It has a very wide temperature range with an easy to read dial. It is also simple to descale. Overall it is the best iron I have ever had and I would highly recommend it.

Excellent easy to use Iron. Heat up quick, glides really well and the steam/spay features are top notch and work especially well on heavily creased and dried out clothing and bedding [as I found out with the pile of washing I had sat waiting whilst we waited delivery of this Iron due to my old one giving up the ghost ]. It even works great at vertical steaming so is good for curtains too. I know a few num'pties bemoan the fact it does not have a removable 'calc collector' like the older Philips Irons, but to be honest that feature was quite ugly, cumbersome and just a dust trap waiting to break! This particular Iron has a built in Calc cleaning feature where you simply fill the tank with water (just water), heat on MAX till it switches off and then you unplug the Iron, hold it flat over a sink to catch any water/debris and press the Calc Clean button on the top side of the iron whilst gently shaking it from side to side. Once all the water is dispelled .. job done and it's clear of any calcium build-up. Plus doing it this way is a lot simpler and cleaner than the old cartridge method which is why I guess the stopped fitting that old thing? Anyway so far so great. And as an added bonus I've now discovered this particular Iron ... the Philips GC4526/87 [must be the 87] was/is a Which Best Buy product ... Result :)Read full review

This new iron has made me realise how out of date my old one was. The steam functions steadily, making ironing far easier than it used to be, even on tee-shirts that have been left to dry completely. I am well pleased.
