Carol Ann Duffy was born in Glasgow in 1955. Her poetry publications have received many awards, including both the Forward Prize and the Whitbread Prize. Carol Ann Duffy is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and was recently awarded the CBE. Lydia Monks has a unique style which combines paintwork with collage. When she's not illustrating, she enjoys Irish dancing. She won the Smarties Bronze Award for I Wish I Were a Dog (Methuen) in 1999, and has illustrated two successful picture books for Macmillan: Madeleine the City Pig (0 333 73945 0) and Esmerelda (0 333 76051 4).
