Recently discovered Robert Cray and bought this album as a follow up to Strong Persuader. Some great tracks and well worth a listen.

A male friend of mine whom does not listen to main stream music put me on to Robert Cray and in particular this album, at first I was a little sceptical but after a couple of listens I really got into this album and went on to buy/down load 4-5 of his other CD's. Why I liked it ... Robert Cray's music has a good mixture of blues, bluegrass and country with fantastic guitar work and lyrics that tell a story not just a ramble of words thrown together that may happen to rhyme. The only song that I didn't take to on this CD was, 'He don't live here anymore', in that it slips too deep into morbid blues ... Perfect if you've just lost your father or close male friend, hopefully you will not need to listen to it because of that!! Favourite tracks have to be, 'On the road down', 'I'm a good man' and, 'I'm a looser'. With most of Robert Cray, this is music for both male and female listeners, the women will love the lyrics and the men will love the guitar work. So, keep an open mind, listen to the words and find a new love ... and if you like this guy, try Keb' Mo' out too!!!!!! (Listen to Closer and One Friend and you will be sold forever LOL) Incidentally Robert Cray and Keb' Mo' have performed together as have Eric Clapton and Robert singing 'Old Love' well worth a web search if you like these artist.Read full review
This is Mr Cray at his best, as with most of his music he has the ability to not only tell a story with his lyrics he evokes feelings in his renditions that not only stir your emotions and concsiousness but leave you with an insight of human frailties. The musical content is totally amazing, he knows the Blues, and leaves the listener in no doubt as to his mastery of his craft,in the words of J.L.H. "Thank You Robert"
