Have used ronseal 5 year wood stain before on some oak church gates that I made many years ago. I have found this product to be the most suitable for durability. Quite easy to prepare and recoat. I would recommend that recoating is carried out after 4 years if not sooner, depending on location and exposure.

Two of your questions, value and quality, can only be answered over time. I have used the stain on our gates and they look very good after 25years use. Quality gates needed good paint so I chose this wood stain. One tin covered 2 x 10 foot five bar gates and one 3 foot gate. My first tin I bought locally but they did not have another in antique pine. I recommended it to a friend who has painted her garden table with it. I hope it lives up to the five years as we are both 83 and look forward to five years no painting!!!
