I had to reinstall windows on this drive, to make full use o...f it. Windows 7 literally took 5 mins to set up from scratch on this drive; it's made a huge difference to the startup time and running speed of my desktop. Instead of going off to make a cup of tea, i barely have time to adjust my chair and get comfortable! Would highly recommend.

Laptop boot time with HDD - 2 minute...s. Boot time with Drevo X1 120GB SSD - 35seconds. Boot time with Adata SP550 120GB or Samsung EVO850 120GB or Sandisk SSD Plus 120GB (old and faster G25 version) - 13 seconds. So can't say that it's good performing SSD at all. The good point is that it is reliable.

...apart from having to get a new product code from Microsoft ...to reinstall Windows 7, but that's not the SSD's fault. My old drive died, and I thought it was worth splashing out a little more for SSD this time. Hard to know how much the extra speed is due to the much leaner OS and how much is the drive, but it's much faster. It's much smaller than the 360 GB of the original, but it was full of garbage and I intend to keep it pretty clean anyway with cloud storage, etc.. Windows installed without a hitch. I was a bit concerned about the sudden-death problem with SSDs, which give no indication that they're getting old and wearing out, but sensible backups are the solution with either type of drive, and, even if mechanical drives are supposed to give little indications they're not in the best of health, you have to check for that or you can miss it. Mine just died anyway. The unit just slotted in. It was well packed and arrived promptly.

Lastly; Reinstalling and updating on the new drive is a leng...thy process and should not be undertaken lightly but the benefits makes it all worthwhile: · Boot time 35 seconds for Win10 · No more defragging needed · Save up to 10 watts power consumption · Cooler operation · Battery discharge time doubled · Read/write time faster · Silent operation · As there are no moving parts – no wear & tear · Three years warrantee When buying a new laptop make sure it incorporates the latest solid-state hard drive: the machine will give better results all round. The spinning disks maybe less costly but have had their day!

After multiple HDD failures in my current ...laptop (drops, bumps and general wear & tear) I decided to try a solid state hard disk. The laptop is getting towards end of life so opted for only 120 GB disk as a proof of concept. The disk was well packaged (even surviving a territorial collie dog on the other side of the letter box). the product was exactly as described and the build quality feels excellent. The drive was fitted with no problems and once windows was re installed it works faster than the laptop did when new. The product was excellent value for money, delivered fast and well packaged, performs as if not above expectations. I would highly recommend this product and will be using again.
