Not bad for less than 90 quid!
I i paid £89.99 this camera for my daughter as a Christmas present and she has not put it down since. She's totally hooked on using it, up until then she had been using my camera before which, for all it's good quality was a fairly basic but user friendly device. I made a conscious decision to deliberately look for a Samsung model. I have a couple of other Samsung items in the household and they are reliable and do their job well. This camera is no exception, it takes excellent quality photographs and, for it's price has so many other features it'll take us months to work through them all. This is also the first camera i bought which has a charger supplied and a more than reasonable battery life thanks to the supplied LI-ION battery pack. This, however brings a limitation of not being able to put in your own batteries so of course the down side to this is that if you're out and about taking pictures and the battery does go flat then there is no option of slipping in a pair of Duracells but i dare say that replacement battery packs can be purchased. As for build quality, to hold it has a reassuring amount of weight about it making it feel solid and sturdy. There is one niggle here though, to raise the flash there is a button on the top but the button does sometimes stick and you have to press down quite hard to release the flash unit, when it pops up it seems rather flimsy .. could present a vulnerability when taking pictures at parties and sporting events. The timeframe between turning it on and taking your first snapshot is about 4 seconds, none too shabby but i would like to see an instant preview option here so you can see if anyone blinked, my manual does say it has face and blink detection, there probably is one available but it's not setup by default. A couple of nice touches are the HD Video recording and WiFi option where you can download your pictures to your tablet or phone, you can also e-mail them. Takes a bit of setting up for some odd reason the WiFi setting where you set it up on a network seems well tucked away but once you've overcome all this and everything is set up then it will quite happily take pictures and send them to your device automatically. I could go on and review all the other little features but i'd be here all day and to be honest i've not looked at them all yet! All in all it's a good little camera, has a few minor niggles here and there but bearing in mind what i paid for it i'd say it's very good value for money, worth having!Read full review
