My daughter, who ...has just finished year 2, studied Macbeth and The Tempest in this range of books at school. She enjoyed them and wanted more. She loved A Midsummer Night's Dream, but doesn't want to proceed with Hamlet because 'it's too scary!'. The tragedies might be better left until she is older. They're beautifully illustrated on good quality paper, and well told in simple language that's not patronising. I think even adults would find them useful for explaining the basic plots, so that they get more out of going to see the plays!
